.C Programming Help Please?
What would a .c program for a business who makes lenses that can be used to fit over solar panels whose material is produced in four by eight foot sheets and made so that any piece less than six inches wide or less than six inches long cannot be used be if it needed to:
* Process the data file and compute the best way to process the order and have a low amount of wasted material.
* Keep track of the number of four by eight foot sheets that are used, the number of custom panels that are produced, and the amount of material that is to small to be used.
If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Well, I can provide some help, but not do the whole program as I do not know what the data file is about.
You should make constants for the width and height of the 4 x 8 foot sheet.
A constant for the minimum width and height might also help you.
You should make variables to hold the current width and height of the sheet.
You may find it easier to convert all the measurements to inches, instead of feet, so you could easity check if it is less than 6 feet on eitther side.
You will need a variable to hold the number of sheets you have used, the number of custom panels.
A variable to hold the amount of amterial that is too small. You will have to work out how to calculate the value for this yourself. For instance, you may have a width and height variable for all of the wasted material, or just use 1 variable to hold some other amount that you work out.
Then the program should run something like this.
- Set the current width and height to the size of a sheet.
- Set the number of sheets used to 1.
- Set the number of panels made to 0.
- Read in the file.
- For each entry in the file.
- - Check if the current width and height are less than or equal to the minimum width and height.
- - If so, change the current width and height to the size of a sheet. Increment the number of sheets used by 1.
- - Take the width and height needed for the current entry from the sheet.
- - Increment the number of panels made by 1.
- End the loop.
- Output the results.
